Global Protection Corp. Moves Headquarters to Lynn, MA, Officially the Condom Capital of the U.S.

Global Protection continues its legacy of sexual health innovation with expanded space and community partnerships

LYNN, Mass. — Global Protection Corp.®, a pioneering force in sexual health and innovation, proudly announces its new headquarters in Lynn, Massachusetts. After decades in Boston’s booming Seaport District, Global Protection has moved its operations to the iconic former West Lynn Creamery building.

This move reflects both Global Protection’s ongoing growth and its commitment to supporting Lynn’s renaissance. Once known as the “Shoe Capital of the World,” Lynn is now recognized as the "Condom Capital of the U.S.," with more condoms shipped in and out of the city than any other nationwide. This year over 250 million condoms will ship through Global Protection Corp.®’s Lynn headquarters.

Established in 1987, Global Protection Corp.® is a sexual health and wellness company committed to increasing access to innovative, high-quality products. Global Protection manufactures a portfolio of trusted condom, oral dam, and personal lubricant brands, including ONE® Condoms and Lubricants, Trustex®, Atlas®, and Satin Dams®. Global Protection also manufactures private label condoms and lubricants for major national brands, major mass market and drug chains, and other start-up brands. In addition, the company is the primary provider of condoms and lubricants to the U.S. public sector.

We stay committed to innovation, building connections, and leading the sexual health industry forward,” said Davin Wedel, Founder and CEO of Global Protection Corp.® “When we moved from Wilmington to Boston’s Seaport in 1996, we were part of a movement that transformed an industrial neighborhood into a thriving innovation hub. Today, we see the same opportunity in Lynn, a city with a rich history of manufacturing, now buzzing with creativity and revitalization.”

The new 65,000 square-foot space offers expanded manufacturing, fulfillment, and office capacity, allowing Global Protection to continue developing groundbreaking products. The company’s history of innovation includes many industry firsts: the invention of the glow-in-the-dark condom; the opening of Condomania, the first U.S. store dedicated solely to condoms; the launch ofMyONE® Custom Fit® Condoms in a historic range of 52 condom sizes; Global Protection’s ONE® brand becoming the first condomsFDA-cleared for anal use; and product innovations like Pleasure Plus® and ONE® Flex® graphene-enhanced condoms.

But the Lynn headquarters is about more than just production. Reflecting Global Protection’s longstanding support for art and community, Global Protection commissioned a striking building mural by Dutch artist Mr. June, curated in partnership with Lynn-based arts nonprofit Beyond Walls.

"Art and design have always been central to our DNA, from our artistic ONE® Condom wrappers to our packaging and safer sex advocacy programs – and this space is the ultimate expression of that. We wanted to create an environment where art and intentional design seamlessly intersect, transforming our everyday workspace into an inspiring visual experience. Seeing this dream come true is an incredible milestone for all of us at Global Protection Corp.®," said Davin Wedel.

Inside the office, a display of West Lynn Creamery artifacts and a wall mural featuring a dairy cow nods to the building’s iconic history. Additional wall murals around the office are a reflection of the company’s dedication to intentional design.

Studio J.Jih, led by J.Roc Jih (in collaboration with Maugel DeStefano Architects), has designed the new office, assembly and distribution headquarters for Global Protection Corp.® The reimagined creamery blends industrial heritage with bold, modern design—a perfect symbol of Global Protection’s belief that efficiency, creativity, and artistry can coexist in business. History of Global Protection Corp.®

With roots in Boston, Global Protection was founded in 1987 by Davin Wedel. A student at Tufts University, Wedel was motivated by the exploding AIDS crisis and was determined to make condom use fun and stylish—as second nature as wearing a seatbelt. He and a classmate came up with a clever promotion: the “Happy Jumbo”. They featured the Tufts mascot, Jumbo the elephant, on a condom matchbook with the slogan “A Safe Jumbo is a Happy Jumbo". The fun approach broke through.

It was a magic thing that we discovered a bit by accident: when you put something relatable or interesting around the condom, it reduces taboos around condoms and people feel more comfortable talking about safer sex. That same principle of using art and creativity to reinvent the condom is still part of our company’s magic today. That’s why our ONE® trademark round condom wrappers, for example, feature artwork created by artists from around the world,” said Davin Wedel.

After seeing the success of the Happy Jumbo condom matchbook, Wedel began a life-long commitment to condoms. The early days were all about creating Custom Condoms® – customized condom products with organization and company logos. Over time, customized packaging partnerships also included musicians like Prince, KISS, 2 Live Crew, and U2.

Wedel says, “We made it possible for any organization – from colleges and movie premiers to musicians and lawyers’ offices – to promote safer sex. I was always calling reporters and because condoms were still taboo across the country, we were always in the news. This was all part of my plan to get condoms talked about in popular culture and on a national scale – and it worked!”

In addition to its custom offering, Global Protection introduced fun items like Condom Lollypops, Condom Keychains, the Peter Meter, and the Smarter Garter. The company succeeded in convincing gift and convenience stores to dedicate shelf space to these products for the first time – bringing condoms out from behind the counter. By 1991, the company was ready to push limits once again with the Greenwich Village opening of Condomania®, the first condom retail store in the US.

In the early ‘90s, public health funding began to be allocated to sexual health products in efforts to combat the spread of AIDS. Unlike many novelty condom suppliers at the time, Global Protection sold FDA-cleared condoms. As funding became available, Global Protection was perfectly positioned to supply its fun condom packaging to organizations nationwide.  By the late 1990s, GPC was the largest public sector condom distributor in the US, fulfilling national, regional, state, and municipal contracts.

Next, Global Protection set its sights on meeting consumer needs and sparking interest through advanced technology and premium products. Early brand launches included the uniquely shaped Pleasure Plus® and Night Light®, the first FDA cleared glow-in-the dark condom. This allowed GPC to expand beyond specialty retailers and begin exploring distribution through mass, food and drug chains.

In 2004, Global Protection launched its signature brand ONE® Condoms that is recognized around the world for its distinctive packaging and outreach campaigns. ONE® is centered on innovation and inclusivity, empowering people everywhere to take control of their sexual health without sacrificing pleasure. ONE®'s disruptive technologies have redefined the condom industry with groundbreaking features, like Sensatex® Softer Latex, the MyONE® Custom Fit® line of 52 condom sizes, and ONE® Flex®, the world's first condom enhanced with graphene.

ONE® Condoms are printed on its trademark round wrappers featuring a variety of designs from artists around the world. These have included the Tom of Finland limited edition series and collections with art from artists like Okuda and Shanée Benjamin. ONE® has also collaborated on condom wrapper projects for the Los Angeles Department of Health, Toronto Public Health, Miami Dade County, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. ONE® has donated over one million products, driven wide-scale public health campaigns and hosts community programs like ONE® on Stage, Project Condom fashion shows, and its College Ambassador program. ONE® is sold on onecondoms.com, amazon.com/one, in stores such as Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens, and across U.S., Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia.
